Sunlight DustVal burst into the early morning sunlight, literally head over heels. Her face smashed into the dust. Blinding pain shot through her as her thigh raked across a jagged piece of marble set into the dusty ground. She cried out and groped for the wound. A piercing shriek echoed from the dark depths of the ruins behind her. Val tried to pull herself to her feet but screamed as her leg crumpled and she landed face first in the dirt once more. With all her might, Val held her hand over her thigh and tried to form the words of a healing spell. There was a tiny flicker of blue light around her hand and the cut tingled, but nothing more.
